Phillip Van Niekerk
Phillip is a Director of Alluvial Agriculture Ghana, He has spent the last 36 years covering Africa as a journalist, editor, communications adviser, and political risk consultant. He is President of Calabar Consulting, a Maryland-based company that advises corporate investors in Africa on political risk, integrity due diligence, and anti-corruption. He is a Strategy Director of All Africa Resource Development (AARD), a company set up to monetize gas flares in Nigeria through the deployment of new technology. He began his career as a journalist covering the anti-apartheid struggle in South Africa and reporting from war zones across the continent. He was editor-in-chief of the Mail& Guardian, South Africa’s leading investigative newspaper, Africa Correspondent for the London Observer, and project director for the DC-based International Consortium of Investigative Journalists. He was also a founding member and head of the Africa Practice of G3 Good Governance Group in London.
